Historical and Forecast Solar Irradiance Data
When we first launched the Solcast API in early 2017, the Solcast team was excited to learn more about the market for historical and forecast solar irradiance and solar power data services. In our launch videos, we excitedly stated “We can’t wait to see what you come up with”, as our passion for enabling our users to build the solar-powered future was at last able to put to the test.
Now, 18 months later, with nearly a thousand users across five continents, we see no better way to launch our company blog than by thanking those users for their commitment to the integration of solar energy, and for being such forward-thinking early adopters of the Solcast API. So - Thank you!
Since that launch, we’ve been able to expand our API to include global coverage, comprising five geostationary weather satellites, including GOES-R/16 over North and South America, and now provide our customers with global data coverage, updating every 10-15 minutes. We’ve also been able to develop a new suite of products, including utility scale solar farm forecasts and grid aggregations.
We’ll be using this blog to update you on these new features and to start a dialogue with you, to discover new opportunities for these new products. We also will be using it to answer common questions about what Solcast does and what our mission is.
