Quick Start: Simple Radiation Requests

Solcast will soon move to a new sites-based API framework (learn more). In the meantime, you can access the Simple Radiation API tool for evaluation purposes.

What is the Simple Radiation Request?

The Simple Radiation request returns detailed solar radiation data for the next week based only on your latitude and longitude. The past 7 days of estimated actuals are also available. All data are generated using Rapid Update forecasting systems and Global Coverage.

What data is provided by the API?

The data in each row are 30 minute period end averages and are in UTC. The data are updated every 10 to 15 minutes.

Sites-based API coming soon

Solcast is launching a new site-based API framework soon. This enables Solcast to capture and tune the characteristics of an installed solar system and improve the forecast over time. Your site (Utility Scale, Rooftop, Grid Aggregation or Weather) is linked to a unique ID that references it via the Solcast API.

Finalised documentation for the sites-based API framework will be published in early 2019. Contact us if you’d like to test out the new system now.
